After beginning his musical education as a chorister at Guildford Cathedral, Jeremy won a music scholarship to Reed’s school in Cobham and at just 18 years old, was awarded a scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied with Dr.Norman Bailey CBE and subsequently with Neil Mackie CBE. Having been awarded a bursary from the Ian Fleming trust, he was able to continue his studies and worked with the legendary tenor, Nicolai Gedda.
After his time in London, Jeremy moved to Milan and enjoyed 5 years living and working across Italy. He made his debut as Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni conducted by Corrado Rovaris and directed by Daniele Abbado.
He has since collaborated regularly with Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Barenboim , Nicholas Harnoncourt, Ivor Bolton,Vladimir Jurowski, Myung-Whun Chung ,Ivan Fisher, René Jacobs and many other leading musicians.
He has performed in the world’s most iconic theatres and festivals and worked with the finest orchestras.
Jeremy successfully manages to continue performing in concerts as well as opera. This season he will sing the Evangelist in Bach’s Johannes Passion in Denmark and Germany and Handel’s Messiah in Zurich.
Recent highlights on the concert stage include Britten’s War Requiem with Philippe Herreweghe and Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, Mozart Requiem with Bernard Labadie, and with Ivan Fisher at the BBC Proms, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Alessandro de Marchi , Beethoven 9th Symphony with Vladimir Jurowski. Elgar’s The Dream Of Gerontius with the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Paul McCreesh, Bach’s St.Matthew Passion with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Ivor Bolton.
On the Opera stage, Jeremy has appeared La Scala, Milan in Handel’s Alcina with Giovanni Antonini , Salieri’s Europa Riconsciuta with Riccardo Muti, Mozart’s Don Giovanni with Gustavo Dudamel he also performed the role at Staatsoper Berlin under Daniel Barenboim and at The Edinburgh Festival with Ivan Fisher. As Ferrando in Cosi Fan Tutte at the Royal Opera House ,Covent Garden ,the Bayerische Oper , and in Aix en Provence. He has enjoyed a particularly close relationship with Teatro Real, Madrid performing Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito, Idomeneo and Handel’s Rodelinda and Partenope. At the Paris Opera he played Nero in Robert Wilson’s production of Poppea. He has performed numerous times in Salzburg both at the Mozarteum and the Salzburg Festival.
